Before you start to shop for sheets, use some helpful advice.

1. Thread Count: If you desire luxurious, soft sheets search for fabrics with a high thread count, which is a number of threads woven crosswise and lenthwise into a square inch of fabric. Tighter weaves refine durability and comfort. In luxury sheet, 300 is often topped by thread count. Muslin sheets have a count of 120 and Percale sheets have a count of 180.
2. All cotton isn't equally created. The king of fibers is Egyptian cotton. The Nile River Valley is the only place where it is grown; it's the most lustrous and stongest cotton. The land of the pharaohs has several competitors. Supima Cotton was developed by scientists, which is only grown by members of the Supima association of America. Sheets made from this cotton are soft and strong. After Supima is Pima cotton, the predecessor of it's hi-tech cousin and was originally grown by the Pima Indians in the south. Pima cotton is kept staple in American bedding.
3. Pay attention to certain weaves and blends. While sheets with twill or plain weaves usually win lon-lasting fans, for the highest quality look to sateen. Sateen has much more exposed lenth-wise yarns than other weaves on it's surface, creating a satiny and high-sheen look. Before purchasing sheets, be sure that you know the basics by checking the size of your mattress.
